Grand Prize Winner - 31 Dec 2005

Opening Day, 12/31/05, was filled with crowds and a host of Grand Opening prizes, including this brand-new HP Laptop won by Mrs. Twohig of Shelton.  As a school teacher, she really appreciated getting it.
Cafe history and services

The café opened in late 2005 after many years of planning and months of remodeling.  We hoped to provide the absolute best coffee and cappuccino in the area, and believe we achieved it using a proprietary blend of top quality coffees.  That's just the start.  Try our teas, hot chocolates, smoothies, fresh baked goods, desserts, etc. and you will find we want to be the absolute best.  The fresh bagels we carry were voted the best in Connecticut.

For breakfast, we use fresh ingredients and substitute turkey for the usual pork products.  We also provide gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free products.

As Promise Books, we have a wide variety of books, CDs, videos, hand-made jewelry (by local craftsman), and other unique gift items.  We also have the largest selection of accompaniment CDs in the valley area, and at the lowest price, too.  We have items you just won't find elsewhere.  For instance, we are the only local provider of the very popular Birth Verse products (www.birthverse.com).

Our catering services are also popular and reasonably priced, whether it be smoothies, breakfast, or just bagels.  We even make up a variety of custom gift baskets.

We are conveniently located just ½ mile east of exit 14 from RT8.  Call 922-1977 for more information.

Shelton resident Jim Cooke, stopping in on his way to work after dropping off his daughter at school, said he especially favors the coffee.  "It's a nice place," he said. "We like it."

The Rev. Shepard Parsons, pastor of nearby Shelton Congregational Church, said he has not been to the café, but has heard about it from congregants.  "It's good to have someplace to gather where you don't feel compelled to drink," said Parsons, adding, "I hear it's a great place, warm and welcoming."
